Young Bristol is a values-driven charity on a mission to provide support to people aged 8-25 during their critical out-of-school hours.
We worked hard to give them a beautiful site that would put the outstanding work they do firmly in the spotlight. Working in some of Bristol’s most challenging communities, their network of local youth clubs are safe, fun, and supportive spaces that facilitate inspiring opportunities for young people.
The charity also offer a whole host of mobile youth services, holiday clubs, outdoor activities and informal educational and outdoor employment opportunities. It’s all about fostering potential and ensuring brighter futures for our young people.
The charity’s existing WordPress website just wasn’t working for them anymore. The design had dated, there were multiple inconsistencies across the site, and a number of the plugins were broken.
On top of that, the content needed a good freshen up. Although there were some strong SEO practices on display, we wanted to give visitors a sleek user experience and ensure they had access to all the latest information on the charity’s activities.

We migrated the existing content across to the new platform and used Young Bristol’s current brand guidelines to create slick wireframes and high-fidelity designs. The appearance was enriched with a suite of secondary colours, and design themes were echoed across each interface. The styles and pages were built with an Atomic Design approach to give a consistent, professional look across the site.
This approach also means that the Young Bristol team can quickly and easily update the content internally now the website is live. Across the site, UX was a key focus to ensure it was accessible and intuitive to navigate for everybody, whether in mobile or desktop format. The menu and site navigation were streamlined and reorganised, and the technical SEO was updated in line with best practice. The client was really pleased with the new website and couldn’t wait to share it with their audience. The launch has already been hailed as a big success: Webflow has proved much easier for the team to use and updating the content is simple and efficient.
The team provides a variety of activities tailored to different seasons and locations. We developed a calendar using CalendarJS, seamlessly integrated with CMS collections, enabling the team to efficiently manage both recurring and one-time events.
